About the collector
MacAntique is the work of one collector, over many years.
The name is a contraction — Mac and antique. It is also a confession: the collection is not a shop, not a brand, not an inventory. It is what one person has lived with, looked after, and gradually come to understand.
Two bodies of work have held our attention. Cloisonné — copper bodies, silver wire cloisons, ground mineral enamel, several firings, and a final hand polishing that takes longer than any of the steps before it. And rose medallion — the Cantonese export porcelain whose pink roses, garden scenes, and gilt panels traveled the world from the early nineteenth century.
The site exists so that other collectors can see the pieces properly photographed, and so that the occasional object — when it is time to let one go — finds the right next home.
